Google Chrome’s toolbar holds your bookmarks, extensions, and shortcuts so you can reach them quickly. When the toolbar suddenly disappears, it is easy to feel lost. The good news is that it is almost always a simple setting, not a broken browser.
The most common reasons are full-screen mode, a hidden bookmarks bar, extensions that are not pinned, or a temporary glitch. Follow the fixes below, in order, and your toolbar should be back in a few minutes.
Why Is the Chrome Toolbar Missing?
Chrome usually hides the toolbar for one of these reasons:

- Your extensions are installed but not pinned to the toolbar.

How to Bring Back the Chrome Toolbar
Fix 1: Exit Full-Screen Mode
In full-screen mode, Chrome hides the toolbar to give you a distraction-free view. This is the most common cause of a missing toolbar.
- On Windows, press F11 to exit full-screen mode.
- On a Mac, press Control + Command + F to exit full-screen mode.
