If you also want to play sound alerts ad effects through the audio device, so select Play Alerts and Sound Effects Through this Device from the same menu that you have used in the previous step.

6- Now it is the time to select your two pairs of headphones, here we are ready to select these two pairs of headphones. In the list of your example audio devices, you will check the boxes next to Steve’s  AirPods and Built-In Output.

7- Next, in this step of this easy trick we have to setup one device as the

Master output device another device as Slave. You can see that the Master device is listed as Built-in Output.

If wired headphones are not exhibiting a lag in receiving the sound signal from the Mac, then you will set them as your Master device. For the AirPods, you must check the Drift Correction box to keep your two sets of headphones in perfect synchrony.

8- Now you can quiet your audio MIDI Setup app because everything has setup properly.
